The Dangers to Foundation Repairs completed Incorrectly!
Over the years I have seen contractors repair damaged foundations with amazement sometimes. How in the heck did these professionals remove the damaged structural foundation to a large building without it collapsing? Like I said, sometimes I can’t believe some of the structural foundation repairs that I have seen in the past.
Structural foundation repairs require a person or contractor with experience and I’m not kidding around. The structural foundation is usually holding up the home and if it’s removed incorrectly, the entire home or large sections of the home could actually collapse and this wouldn’t be a good thing, especially if you’re the one underneath the home while this happened.
The average homeowner or handyman and even some contractors, shouldn’t tackle dangerous foundation repairs. It’s not worth it to you or your family. I can’t tell you how many times I have given an estimate for a project with foundation damage, only years later to find out that the homeowner patched it together themselves and the damage is now worse than it was before.
If you have damage to your footings or concrete foundation pads, and you can’t shore up that section of the home properly, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to pay an experienced contractor for his time to explain the process to you, especially if you persist on doing the job yourself.
Anyone who is lacking enough experience to repair foundation damage or any other kind of structural damage should hire a professional who has enough experience to fix the foundation properly. It’s just not worth it, any other way.
